It Matters Where You Shop this Holiday Season

As many other small business owners have experienced, the global manufacturing environment is ripe with knockoffs. Adventure Hammock Systems is no exception, as we find increasing numbers of knockoff products flooding US Marketplaces year over year. A quick Alibaba search found dozens of knockoff listings, not just highlighting the subpar products, but USING OUR IMAGES to do so. Here's our founder and Chief Engineer, Chris - laying in the actual product he created...while being used to sell a subpar imitation (don't worry though, theirs is also compatible with a "Jep").

Anyways, we recently decided to order one of these knock-offs (from a Marketplace that shall not be named), at approximately 30% of our list price. The 3P product listing included our specifications almost verbatim, and to add insult to injury, not a single feature on the product itself was modified to at least feign creativity (which is a big No-No, from a legal perspective. At least modify a few features, for goodness'sake!! )

We know that our products aren't for everyone, and that premium products often come with a premium price tag. However, we have worked incredibly hard to develop a diverse line of Hammock Mounts and Accessories, while keeping all design and manufacturing processes local to Bend, Oregon. That's something to be proud of.

Remember that it really does matter where you shop this holiday season. Families like ours are working hard to provide high-quality, locally manufactured products, while supporting a hyper local supply chain and jobs in our communities. I'd like to think that means something ❤️
